Are the Good Times Gone for Honest People?| Mackinac County GOP Open Letter

There is a great danger of division amongst our party.  This conflict is crippling our party. On March 2, 2024, the duly elected Delegates of Mackinac County Republican Party went to our caucus in Houghton Lake, Michigan due to being disenfranchised from the caucus in Grand Rapids. We showed up for our county and the sacrifice at county level was eminent. We the four delegates, who were duly elected to go to convention by a slate vote on February 15,2024 include Donna Dutcher, Lewis Hitts, Kellie Gerow and Rick Wilson, our delegate at large was our Chairwoman Roxanne DuFort.

Barb Schroeder was not elected to go to the convention. She misrepresented her credentials at the Grand Rapids convention.

Statements from the duly elected precinct delegates to go to convention are as follows.

Donna Dutcher (Mackinac County State Convention Delegate): “Our caucus was beautiful. We held our caucus legally. The Grass Roots Movement Shined! I learned so much. It ran smoothly and was so well organized. Everyone’s vote was counted, and it showed true UNITY.”

Fredrick Wilson (Mackinac County State Convention Delegate): “I am a newbie; this was my first exposure to a caucus. I did not realize the significance of what was happening. This is so unfortunate that the core is coming out of Lansing with the old Republican Party. The only winners here are the lawyers and the Democrats.”

Lewis Hitts (Mackinac County State Convention and Sergeant at Arms of the Mackinac County Republican Party): “I was proud to be slate Chair at our County Convention to exercise our rights as delegates to represent our county. I am ashamed of the way Mr. Hoekstra was installed by a puppet regime and anointed by former President Trump. We still live in a Republic and have the right to vote. There was a call at caucus to reaffirm the rightful leader of the Michigan Republican Party, which I proudly seconded. The vote was unanimous that Kristina Karamo is still the rightful chair. I hope in my heart that all the other caucuses carried this same vote. I further wish that all of Mackinac County and the State of Michigan hear our voices."

Kellie Gerow (Mackinac County State Convention Delegate and Secretary of the Mackinac Republican Party): “I was ready to head to Detroit, whether I was going alone or with my fellow delegates. The notification was sent by First District to meet in Houghton Lake; therefore, I cancelled my hotel room in Detroit and booked one in Houghton Lake. I was not going to let my vote not be counted. I take this very seriously. Our caucus was efficient and united. It was mind blowing how unified we were. I hope we can get past the animosity and get to work!”

OUR VOTES:

134 votes for Donald Trump for president.

123 votes for Bernadette Smith for RNC Chairwoman

70 votes for Angela Hall as RNC Delegate (Alternate)
