Chris Holz

First District Secretary

Known as the “data geek”, my computer creds go back to the IBM 026 Keypunch machine. Since then, I’ve moved from the big iron to laptops and the cloud. During that timespan I became a CPA in Michigan (now retired), learned to fly, and spent 25 years in martial arts where I learned how much I don’t know. I also teach Concealed Pistol License classes and ride my motorcycle when the snow goes away.

When I watched Donald Trump’s amazing achievements during his first term, I was stunned to see his re-election stolen in 2020, so I rolled off the couch and found ways to work for a better future.

I’ve become a precinct delegate, helped many other people become notaries public, served on the Executive Committee of the Grand Traverse County GOP, and worked hard in the First District. Several times I have represented the District by proxy in State Committee meetings of the Michigan Republican Party, and I was elected to complete the 2023-2024 term as district secretary. I’m part of a great team here trying to bring more knowledge and value to the 36 counties of the First District.

Bob Baldwin (Kalkaska County)

Bob Baldwin of Kalkaska County

I am Bob Baldwin, Christian, husband of my beautiful wife of 54 years, father of 4 great kids and a resident of the 1st Congressional District for 24 years.

Beginning in 1972 with the re-election of President Nixon and Senator Bob Griffin I started my political experience by running their field campaign in 6 southeast Michigan counties, not including Wayne.  Since then I have worked on behalf of Parental Freedom of Choice in Education and Christian Schools, both in Washington, DC and Michigan and other conservation causes.  In 1980 I was an alternate to the Republican National Convention from Virginia and a member of then-candidate Ronald Reagan's Family Policy Advisory Board.  I took a bit of a break from Politics in the early 2000s to make some money, but in 2020 I was elected to the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners where I continue to serve.  After living here for 20 years, it was time to give back.  My interest and goal for the 1st District is to continue to support traditional Christian Values, adherence to the United States Constitution, and Republican fiscal responsibility. I hope my experience can help the 1st Congressional District toward those ends.

I am strong advocate for the 2nd Amendment, an avid bow hunter, a very poor amateur photographer and a practicing Christian, who is still just practicing.

Kathy Salisbury (Baraga County)

Kathy Salisbury of Baraga County

I was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan; made engineering my career choice and served as the lead HVAC Design Engineer on a nuclear project in South Carolina for 10 years before relocating back to Michigan and re-marrying my high school sweetheart; during my time in the engineering world I developed a knack for Excel spreadsheets when Lotus123 was no longer the norm in the industry; I excelled in 2 CAD software programs (Microstation and AutoCAD) and trained new employees to use CAD; my hobbies include sewing, crocheting, baking, reading, Bible study (I've made a Bible genealogy chart from Adam and Eve down to Jesus Christ), sailing and traveling. I have an Australian Shepherd that I rescued 2 years ago.

I first got interested in politics during the Reagan era - before that I did not know the difference between a liberal or a conservative - it took me listening to Rush Limbaugh to learn to recognise the difference just from having a conversation with a person. Since moving to Baraga County in 2017, I have become more and more involved, learning from Burt Mason and Kevin Dean.
